Americana del Sur
It works on so many levels...
The Invention of Morel (1940) by Adolfo Bioy Casares.
A men and his desires to impress a woman. I like how he plans the meeting.
About the book: A fugitive hides on a deserted island somewhere in Polynesia. Tourists arrive, and his fear of being discovered becomes a mixed emotion when he falls in love with one of them. He wants to tell her his feelings, but an anomalous phenomenon keeps them apart.
The most impressive is that Bioy Casares is talking about something that will be used almost 3 decades later.
